What’s New at LCS

 Happy May!

The last month of the school year is upon us. May is a BUSY month with lots of events and activities. The countdown has begun in many of our classrooms. The weather is getting nicer and testing is wrapping up. We will begin our last round of testing this week with NWEA’s. The kids continue to show us how great they are by trying their best; we will be having a reward day at the end of the month for all their hard work testing.

Throughout the month of May, LCS will be celebrating charter schools. We are also celebrating “May’s Magical Moments” where we are focusing on  kindness and generocity. Students have the opportunity to earn tickets each week. Drawings will be held randomly throughout the month and students will be rewarded in various ways. We see all of our students displaying kind acts so we’re excited to see how many tickets we receive!

We’re looking for families/parents/grandparents to tell us why they love Lafayette Public Charter School. Responses can be sent to your child’s teacher or the LCS office at Thank you for your participation! We also have extra LCS lawn signs available at school. If you’d like one to proudly display at your home, let me know.

Information about summer school will be coming out this week. This year, teachers will be recommending students for summer school. Our goal is to help students maintain reading and math skills throughout the summer. Watch for more information to come.

This week we welcome Maxine Meine from Southpoint Federal Credit Union who will be giving a presentation on Arbor Day to our 4th & 5th grade students. We also welcome representatives from the United Way who are donating books to our 4th grade students on Thursday. Thank you to both of those organizations for including LCS students in their programs!

As always, contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

Mrs. Clobes
