What’s New at LCS

clobes@lafayettecharter.k12.mn.us

Happy April

Can you believe it’s the last week in April? We’ve had a busy month with MCA testing and continued learning- the students did a great job!  This week we’re starting AIMS Web testing. Please continue to make sure students are getting enough rest at night and a good breakfast in the morning.

Throughout the month of May, LCS will be celebrating charter schools. We’re looking for families/parents/grandparents to tell us why they love Lafayette Public Charter School. Responses can be sent to your child’s teacher or the LCS office at lcsoffice@lafayettecharter.k12.mn.us. Thank you for your participation! We also have extra LCS lawn signs available at school. If you’d like one to proudly display at your home, let me know.

Thank you to the LCS students and staff for all their hard work last week (in celebration of Earth Day) cleaning up around Lafayette and the school grounds. They were busy all week working outside and learning about how to take care of our Earth. Great work!

Last week we celebrated our Wellness Bingo card winners. The winners were chosen based off their participation in bingo. Winners were able to chose a prize donated by LCS PROS.

Congratulations to the following students:

Daxton Decko
Kaydence Jutz
Jemma Jutz
McKinlee Hoffmann
Rylee Hoffmann
Henley Harrison
Theory Harrison
Himalaya Harrison
Brec Reinhart
Taylyn Reinhart
Zayla Reinhart

Did you know LCS offers on-site piano lessons? Jeanne Bruss, piano instructor, comes in every Monday. She’s accepting new students for the 2021/2022 school year! Please contact Jeanne at jeannepiano88@gmail.com or 507-317-1965 if you would like more information.

Summer School

Based on enrollment, interested families, and staffing availability, LCS will be offering a FREE summer school program for Kindergarten-8th graders. The program will run 3 days per week beginning the end of June-the end of July (off the week of July 4th). Families must provide their own transportation. Any families that are interested in signing their students up, please contact your child’s teacher or the LCS Office. More details will be provided at the end of the regular school year.

LCS Yearbook

If your family would like to order a yearbook, please return the slip and payment by Monday, May 10th. Students will receive their yearbooks by Friday, May 14th. If you did not receive an order form, please contact your child’s teacher.

Heggies Pizza Pickup- MONDAY

Pizzas will be delivered on Monday, April 26th. Families are welcome to pick their pizzas up between 4-5pm.

Parent help needed!

May 17th-21st, LCS will be celebrating Charter School Week & Teacher Appreciation Week. LCS staff are busy with planning Charter School Week and are excited to share the activities with the students. LCS PROS are looking for parent volunteers to help with teacher appreciation week. If you would like to provide a meal/snack  or, if you have any other ideas of ways to honor our teachers, let any PROS member know. Thank you for your help with this!

Please continue to be cautious with COVID 19. If you or a family member are getting tested for COVID, please keep your children home until test results have been received.  Our goal is to keep everyone healthy and safe so we can continue in-person learning for the remainder of the school year.

We are in the stages of planning for the 2021/2022 school year. If you haven’t already, please let your child’s teacher know if you would like them enrolled for next school year. This helps with classroom and teacher planning. Thank you for your help with this!

Thank you for your continued support this school year. Please continue to follow the COVID-19 Decision Tree if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child’s health.

As usual, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Tally Clobes, Interim Director
